Makro has four branches in Flanders and two in Wallonia, located in Eke (near Ghent), Deurne (near Antwerp) Sint-Pieters-Leeuw (Brussels), Machelen (near Brussels), Alleur and Lodelinsart.
The company opened its first store in Deurne in 1970. In contrast to the Netherlands, also private individuals can make purchases here. Customers have to show their identity card at the customer reception of the Makro store. They create a Makro card, based on certain data. Employees check the possession of this card at the entrance. METRO Cash & Carry Belgium is reserved for catering professionals and traders.
