Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering NV or DEME is a globally active, international group founded in 1991, which specializes in dredging, land reclamation, port infrastructure, offshore services for the oil and gas industry, wind energy, remediation, etc.
The group's headquarters are located in Zwijndrecht. DEME employed around 4,500 people in 2013 and realized a turnover of 2.5 billion euros. The company took part in a few well-know works, such as dredging in the Panama Canal, salvage of the ro-ro ship "Tricolor", construction of wind farms off the Belgian coast on the Thornton Bank and construction of artificial islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi ( "SARB" project).
